Some times the enemy attacks when least expected and you have to fight and possibly die with no shoes on.My father some some guys die in Vietnam in their sleep when a 155mm shell hit their bunker it was the first round dropped in so they went to sleep and never saw another day.Many times in Afghanistan troops in fire posts had to fight in whatever they where relaxing/sleeping in and quickly donned Kevlar dome and body armor.
