Support Issues with GWX.3. Gold (Grey Wolves)

Hey there,

So, after a Long time i decided to play SH3 again with the Grey Wolves Supermod.
SH3 is on 1.4b and runs very smooth with WIN10 and the compability Mode enabled for Win7 (for good measure, it works on WIN10s normal mode aswell but takes longer to load for some reason)

My Issues with the mod:
The Ingame Music doesnt exist anymore. The Files are still there, right were they belong, but its absolutely quiet ingame. no Battle, Patrol or Defeat Music Theme (And i love those Soundtracks, they are amazing)
Im pretty sure last time i played GWX.3 it didnt alter my Ingame Music at all, so im a bit surprised and no idea what went wrong

Second Issue:
It Crashes alot.
Loading a Mission: Crash to Desktop
in the middle of Combat: Crash to Desktop
Using Time Compression: Crash to Desktop
I already disabled all "extra" mods like 16km atmosphere, but i rather want them turned on because they add that little extra....
My PC is good enough to run ARMA 3 and Space Engineers, so it cant be the Hardware Limitations.... The Mod in itself is either really unstable or im doing something wrong.
I installed it over a clean SH3, and that already 5-6 times and tried several combinations of Mods and Tweaks to understand what could cause it, but it crashes even with everything disabled and only GWX installed.

I also installed the Resolution fix for SH3 and play it on 1600x900 to combat the "Launch Button Bug" in 1920x1080. didnt make any problems until i install GWX3

any Help would be greatly appreciated

Did you patch your SH3.exe with the 4GB patch?

The 4GB patch allows to use more RAM memory (4GB instead of 2) for your application.
Otherwise it CTD.

Also install the game in a custom folder, something like c:\Games\SilentHunterIII

Windows protects the Program Files folder so any modifications done to the game like the GWX installer or JSGME may be prevented from sticking. A solutions is to run the game as administrator, but then the savegames belong to the administrator account chosen, not to your own user account. It doesn't necessarily apply to your crashing instances but better be safe then sorry. This applies to most other games as well that need to change files in the install folder.

For the music simply go into the data/sound/music folder and open music.cfg file. where it says tracks enter the number of tracks and then delete the ; symbol that the gwx team put in front of the track name (they use the ; symbol to bypass the track) save the file and enjoy

ORIGINAL

[BEGIN]
Tracks=3
Track1=Empty.ogg
Track1=Intro_1_Master.ogg
Track2=Intro_2_Master.ogg
Track3=Intro_3_Master.ogg

GWX ALTERATION

[NORMAL]
Tracks=1
Track1=Empty.ogg
;Track1=Stalker_1_Mix.ogg
;Track2=Stalker_2_Mix.ogg
;Track3=Stalker_3_Mix.ogg
;Track4=Stalker_4_Mix.ogg
;Track5=Stalker_5_Mix.ogg

Thx again, my issues have been completely solved.

One last thing, or rather question:
I downloaded some of the Music from das Boot, and tried to put it into the Game files as Background music, edited the command file to play the tracks and changed the number of tracks accordingly.

unfortunatly, the tracks played for ~10 Seconds ingame, before repeating or dissapearing (with 1-2 minutes silence)

is there something i must tweak to get this working?
and do the Files have to be this weird .ogg format or is Mp3 working aswell?

thx in advance

Do you mean Gramaphone or music folder? if music folder make sure you replace the original files with the das boot files (the name should stay exactly the same so the .cfg file can read it.) other than that i dont exactly know the problem. is it not JSGME compatible?

i use a das boot music mod and i hard installed it instead of JSGME just in case use an online converter to change them from a Mp3 to a .ogg format (better safe than sorry)

maybe it has to do with the context of your playing. get spotted and see if the music continues. the music will quit if you are no longer in "battle"
