Default SH3 patch 1.4b...or 1.3?

Hello to the community.
I play SH3 for a long time, and a few days ago, i decided to install the Grey Wolves patch.

But it doesnt work.
I have tried this : deleting all SH3 stuffs, including the SH3 folder in my dcuments.
Installing the game (i have the DVD version).
Then, the official 1.4b patch.
First thing quite strange, when installing the official patch 1.4b, the patch window shows "1.0 to 1.3 patch".

So i try to install GWX patch. After installation, i can launch the game. The game crashes on the main screen, when loading bar reaches approximately 90%. The error message indicates "There is a new (not implemented) page :<Page Ingame Options>

Can anybody explain to me what is wrong?
Thanks a lot in advance.

My config : ASUS aspire V3 771G, windows 8, Nvidia 630M.
The original SH3 game is working perfectly on this computer.

It may be the StarForce copy protection on the original DVD getting you?

Default Thx

Thanks for answering Maillemaker.

Maybe you are right, because i cant launch the original game with the DVD in DVD drive. It tells me "this game requires win 98, winXP, Win Vista,...".
So i have replaced the original EXE with a no-DVD one.
Then i can launch the game and play normally.
But with the GWX mod, i have the message described above. Is the patched EXE the same than the original 1.4b .EXE?

Default Partially ok

I have found a (partial) solution.
Here is my procedure, maybe it can help other players:
The 1.4b noDVD was not the correct one. I had a 3 files noDVD, but it seems that it needed a 5 files noDVD.
Now the GWX launches, and i can play a single mission. What a beauty! Sounds and graphics are amazing.
But the game crashes when i want to launch the first mission of the career.
So now i must find a solution to this problem.

Sounds like you did have a Starforced DVD. There is a removal tool somewhere for it.
As for those noDVD files... If they are the files I am thinking they will bring you no end of grief. 9/10 they are hacked .exe with viruses in them.

Default Starforce

The removal tool does not work on my computer. So i use the noDVD one. I know the risk, here it's clean.
And finally, all the game is working well. I didn't check "compatibility mode win XP SP3".
Now let's hunt!
