Default Recommanded max Time Compression ?

Hello

I am using silent hunter 3
with gmx 3.0 gold mod
+ sh3 commander 3.2 + the small patch for gwx 3 for it

What is the maximum recommanded time compression value so i wont miss anything ?

I can go up to 1024 and that's far enough for me.
I have been using the search function of the forum but i don't get a clear answer to that question :/

What is the highest time compression level I can use (around 256 or 512 ?) so I wont miss contacts ?

128x seems to work the best for traveling for me.

yep, 128x for travelling to your grid.
32x or 64x for patrolling, and 1x for attacking or rather evading .....
but that's just my way to sim.

Ok. I'll use 128.
Up to know I was using x1024 until I got close to England,
then x128

I need to tweak the config file to drop to x1 for some things.

Thanks.

just a recommendation.
you will define your style to play ....
but I can tell, when on 1024x in one of my first careers I ran aground and haven't even known why! there's only one little spot north-west of Madeira (IIRC) and sure I was the one to hit it!!

I tend to use 1024 to 4096 for crossing long stretches of open ocean where I don't expect to run into anything.

128x for patrolling in aircraft rich environments, it tends to ensure a proper amount of aircraft encounters, but gives you enough time to respond

512x when loitering at 20m for hydrophone-based hunting in shipping lanes

in other areas I use 256x

short bursts of up to 64x when approaching targets (gets it over with quicker) and 1x for dodging DDs

Bah! You guys are women.

128x seems to be the preferred max time compression for most SH3 players here.

I prefer 64x because the whole 1 hour = 1 minute (roughly) thing appeals to me.

Personally I dont like to spend nearly all day travelling from one grid square to the next. Some do,some dont, simple.

Do airplanes and things still show up in x128?

yes, in my case they do.
but I don't know if the number of them decreases because of TC (I remember someone said this will happen at higher TC-settings).

My personal experience has taught me to never go higher than x32 against planes, they appear too fast and suddenly for you to safely decide what should be done, either dive or fight it out with them at high speed. The bay of Biscay is a deathtrap for anyone going higher than x32.

There is a strong suspicion that tc above x128 can affect the spawning ability of some aircraft sorties.
