Why are some people incapable of critical thinking?, At a personal level, barriers to critical thinking can arise through: an over-reliance on feelings or emotions. self-centred or societal/cultural-centred thinking (conformism, dogmas or peer-pressure) unconscious bias or selective perception.

I was exposed over and over again, monitored by the Health Department, even kissed my wife twenty minutes before she had positive test results. Nothing.

Everyone is pretty well mystified as to why I appear to be immune to COVID.

There is evidence of cross-species immune response in humans to the seven or eight types of Corona viruses. One of the clinicians at the VA Medical Clinic where I get my medical care said that camels are notorious reservoirs of various types of Corona viruses, and theorized that since I've spent time around camels when I was on active duty that maybe I had some immunity before COVID turned up.

I don't know. I think it just doesn't like me. Not many diseases do. And that's okay with me.

Obedience to authority, and critical thinking, are not the same thing. Critical thinking can, but does not have to, refer exclusively to authorities; it can even make one clearly aware of the moral reprehensibility of what the authority orders and thus create a cognitive dissonance that either persists, in which case the person writhes in a moral dilemma and feelings of guilt, or that he eliminates by rationalizing and then transferring the responsibility for his actions to the authority perceived as superior and making himself believe that this is okay.

One should distinguish between the two.

Peer pressure is also a very powerful variable for generating compliance.
