Thanks guys. No power or internet. On my phone. It’s a disaster for sure but we are all safe. My son in law got me a generator so we have the basics.

A generator is a very good thing to have + fuel to run it.

Secondly a kerosene stove + kerosene to heat up the room you are in is also a good investment.

Things can be replaced-Human can't so stay safe you know

The West coast of Florida is about to be hit with Hurricane Ian. Hurricane Ian is now a category three storm and could be a category 4 by the time it makes landfall in Florida tomorrow. Storm surge could be as high as 10 feet.

I have a number of friends in Florida so I worry about their safety.

Reading the WSJ and imbibing my cuppa joe...and the front page is enjoyable for a change-side by side headlines: "China Reins In Belt and Road" lending vs "Russian Enlistment Offices Attacked as Protests Widen"...as 3rd-world nations vote with 'debt-trap diplomacy' nonpayment; and Russian callup reservists vote with their feet...and guns at recruiting stations... ie: all is not so harmonious in the neo-communist superpower states??!

One week after Hurricane Fiona blasted our little island we have had our power and internet restored. But almost half the Province is still in the dark. The devastation is stunning.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/princ...otos-1.6593377

We were very fortunate. No damage to our house and there were no deaths or injuries in the Province. I have a great son-in-law who found us a 5500 watt generator so we had lights and hot water. We spent most of the daytime helping neighbors clean up their yards. My wife made hot meals for neighbors that didn't have a generator. She is a wonder.

The impact of this will last for years. I will now have a deeper sympathy for others who are hit by these things.

I'm glad you and your neighbors came out of the Hurricane " relatively unscathed" Marcel. You have a great family there. I hope everyone else there is safe and able to pick up their lives and livelihood in short order. It's so great you and your wife were able to help the neighbors but hardly a surprise you would do that.

I'm still waiting on word from Florida.
