Tom CLancy's SSN problems w/xp and compatibility mode...

ahoy.

i know the game is meant for windows 95. long story short,i can get the game to run perfect in compatibility mode...except not with windows audio enabled.

in an attempt to retrofit my rig to run this i have run every diagnostic and adjusted every accelerator imaginable. windows keeps telling me there's nothing wrong with my sound card.

i disable windows audio, the game runs fine in compatability mode, just no sound. enable it and the game crashes on every aspect of the game except the videos. all my drivers are up to date to the best of my knowledge.

here's my hunk of crap's specs as of right now:

Gateway S-5205-S (E2600)
Windows XP Home Edition-SP 3
ATI Xpress 200 (RC410) Motherboard
2456 MB RAM
Intel Pentium 4 Processor-3.00 GHz
Nvidia Geforce 8400 gs 512MB display adapter
Realtek HD Audio Output -->this is the culprit right here. (maybe it's because it's HD,idk...)
direct X 9.0c-version-4.09.0000.0904
Bios-Pheonix-Award BIOS v6.00pg

the error that appears on crash is beyond my ability to comprehend.any suggestions BESIDES running an instance of windows 95 (or playing w/o sound, even i figured that one out) on this unit is GREATLY appreciated in advance, and forevermore...technically this should work...what's wrong??? thanks.

"fish" on!
