Sunk 17 July, 1944 west of Narvik, Norway, in position 68.36N, 08.33E, by depth charges from a British Liberator aircraft (Sqdn 86/U). 49 dead (all hands lost).

Sunk on 29 Jan 1944 by depth charges from a British Halifax aircraft (Squadron U/502) in the Bay of Biscay in position 45.33N, 05.55W. 49 dead (all hands lost).

U-365 (Type VIIC)



U-367 (Type VIIC)




Sank 16 March, 1945 in the Baltic Sea near Hela, in position 54.25N, 18.50E, after hitting a mine laid by the Soviet submarine L-21 3 days earlier. 43 dead (all hands lost).

U-371 (Type VIIC)




Sunk by USS Menges on 4 May 1944

But if I may, the boat seen above is U-990 and not U-344. This particular picture was taken during the end of the training and the boat was soon to be commissioned as front boat. The white stripe on the conning tower mark it as a boat in training and under the olympic rings is the Agru-Front emblem.
A couple of boats used the Olympic Rings as emblem, since it was the emblem of the class of '36.
The Kaleu in this picture is Nordheimer (only the white hat is visible here); the first from the right is Chief Machinist Erwin Hofeditz, and the third from the right is the LI, Karl-Heinz Bröskamp.

Thank you for your specific information.
Effectively, the Crew 36 became known as the Olympia crew, they joined in the year of the famous Berlin Olympics and they chose the Olympic rings as their emblem.
