Default Underwater footage of sunk U-boat

This is awesome.. Divers found the wreckage of U-40, sunk off the Scottish coast, in 1915
The video includes footage of the wreck, and a pretty good explanation of what happened to the boat.

This had me confused as the U-40 was sunk 13 Oct 1939 in the English Channel.

However, there is another U-40 during WWI

It was a Type U-31

http://uboat.net/wwi/boats/index.html?boat=40

Awkward that they reused the number like that.

Had me confused for a moment.

I am torn on this.

On one hand, I think it would be great to explore this piece of history.

On the other hand there are 29 dead seamen on board and their final resting place should not be disturbed

I don't know what should be done about this.

Requiescat in pace crew of the U-40. Although they had only one patrol and they did not sink any ships, they died in the service of their country.

True that man.. i'm happy they discovered it, and have video of the boat itself.. but it is a final resting place, and i agree with you there, it shouldnt be disturbed otherwise
