Still, it's so inspiring being a member of this active community.

Manual states that escorts can be requested by radio within reach of a German base. How does this work?... there's no radio command for it.

Several crashes to desktop with no errors whatsoever. I suspect this to be the OSP doing connection checks.

I also have a couple of requests. Please add "Return to course" command. (I haven't found it though). And where is the depth under kiel gauge?

i also don't understand why you didn't add rudder icon for mouse like speed and depth. It's only 1 degree left/right or full left/right. Makes steering manually a biatch

And last... Since SH3 one could never flood all the tubes in a chosen Salvo. And we still can't. Tried doing some changes in command.cfg but no luck so far. Setting salvo spread is also missing as far as i can see. I hope i'm not blind here
I havent gotten through the thread as of yet , there are 50 pages of entiries . SO far the best of the series has to be SH3 With GWX expansion pack .. SH5 , I think I ordered the software last year , but since than up graded my home p/c so all the graphics would look cool ,

I miss so far the Following

1 A fine tuned gauge for manual steering . Why cant you just get 1 degree to starbord in SH5 ?
2. Why dont the sonor guys and tha deck watches fail to call out contacts and why doesnt the sonor guy give up dates on contacts?

3 . Its a painin the ass to plot a soulution for the torpedoes .. I missed alot now iam always keeping my fingers crosssed .. annoying !!

4 and all the crew that are you talking to are always spinning around like a buch of faggots trying to show you there asses LOL

5. Iam not sure how much I need to ctach up on mod wide , But I hope GWX mod is included in the mix for SH5 ..

6 . I dont exactly when a patrol ends . Damm small load of torpedoes I have to keep running back to whilhesaven to re-arm - etc october 10 1939 , comon germany invade france so I leave out pf brest or something !

Iam still hooked on SH3 AND SH4 ,, alot of more control in things witha crew that helps you . So far every thing in Sh5 I have to listen to the sonor . I have had to use the deck gun . I have had to ID targets .. Iam the freaking captain . Were is the dummies that are saying that theya re the crew . So whats gonna happen when my boat gets a hit will I have to damage control also?

So I accidentally completely trashed my SH5 folder.. I went to go and redownload it as I had to do earlier this year when I reinstalled XP... and I can't find anywhere to download it. Ubisoft doesn't even acknowledge that I owned it at any point in time. uPlay is uPlay and shows that I've done thing WITH silent hunter... but no dice for downloading it. This is quite flipping annoying. I saw somewhere about Ubisoft keeping downloads available for two years if you pay an extra five dollars.. which is just goddamn retarded. Besides that I'm screwed I think.


About 30 seconds from just torrenting it so I can play. Any alternatives?

Default stock mission question

What the hell is an 'AMC ship'?

Am on the 'Blockade of Germany' mission and have to sink five of bloody things!

Found a few posts where people are suggesting where to find them but no-one actually mentions what they are.

Are they a particular class of ship? If so, are we talking merchant or warship? How can I recognise them, and how did everybody become so familiar with them, that nobody felt the need to discuss them?

Puzzling.

AMC = Armed Merchant Cruiser. They look like small passenger liners with two funnels and two gun turrets right in front of the bridge.

I am having some issues with New UI_TDC 6_9_0. I upgraded from 6_8_0 and for some reason, the recognition manual has disappeared. Even when clicking the button that makes the charts appear, it is nowhere to be found. The only issues I have engaged in other than the mod upgrade is mucking with my screen resolution to try and get a better FPS. What do I need to do to get the recognition manual back?

Another issue is that I cannot get the other interface styles to appear. I select either SH3 or SH4 in the options.py, but I still have SH5 Enhanced? What am I doing wrong?

Delete all the Pagex_Draggables.TDW files in your \Silent Hunter 5 folder to reset draggable positions (and get SOAN back).

Are you editing the options file with the mod enabled or disabled? Are you editing the options file in the mods folder or the game folder?

Deleting those files did the trick. Thanks, man.

Yes, I was trying to edit the settings while the mods were loaded. Obviously, that doesn't work. The interface issue is resolved, too.

I do have another issue, which I think is a core engine bug. When you tell the XO to go to battlestations, the active (red) icon appears, but no black one (to indicate compliance, as with silent running) Since I see no change in efficiency, is the Battle Stations command bugged?

EDIT: Another quick issue. On the SH3 Interface, when clicking the icons for fuel, battery, air or CO2, the Icon only remains on the selection before reverting to either fuel or battery, depending on depth. Is this a bug or is there a setting that controls this and if it is a setting, how do I change it to force my selection to remain active until I change it?

That was a new feature in v6.9.0. You can change the time setting and whether it's enabled or not via the options file editor/viewer app. It's found under the Automatics tab

Hey Darkwraith,

While I have your attention, are you aware of any mods that actually force the broken TDC to actually model the automatic targeting as done in SH 3 and 4 (auto identification and ranging with constant AOB and speed updates)? I am just beginning to get comfortable with manual in 3 and 4 and as wonky as the TDC is in 5, I do not want to touch that buggy thing with a 10-foot pole.

If you turn TDC on it acts just like the TDC in SH3. With TDC off you are in 'kiddy mode'.

EDIT: It still doesn't work quite right that way. I read that releasing the lock just before firing gives a correct solution. I also use the visual lock option in your UI mod, which is about as close to the old auto TDC as I think I am going to get.
