Default wind and waves sound stuck on loop

Question for you guys,

During my last 2 patrols in my type II, I've encountered a rather annoying bug. Regular sounds that you can hear out on the bridge such as howling wind and waves crashing will follow me no matter where I go on the sub...
No matter how deep I dive, I can still hear the wind. I think the sound file goes into loop mode and doesn't know how to turn itself off.
Every time I load the game, about 20 minutes in it starts. The only way to clear it is to save and reload.

Has anybody experienced this or got any ideas of a fix?

I'm running the steam version with GWX3 and SH3 Commander.

edit- I guess this is a common problem addressed in the GWX manual. Onboard sound cards and sound acceleration seems to be the culprit.

I've noticed this occasionally too, however the sound only gets stuck on loop if I pause the game while the weather is stormy. The loop is constant and only stops when the patrol ends. I try to avoid pausing the game during storms.

I, too, have seen it, and have to exit game and re-start for it to go away.

At first when I went below decks I thought cookie had left a teapot on the stove.

I narrowed it down to Alt-Tab (Tabbing ) out of the game causes it for me.

So far, so good
