You really shouldn't mix mods like that. RSRDC is a mostly-Pacific mod by lurker, and OM is a mostly German mod by lurker, they do have a tendency to overwrite one another. Definitely follow lurker_hlb3's instructions if combining. I have no idea about "OM multicmd", "english cube" nor "Tillabous skinpack", having never used any of those. The above is might be your trouble though. Back the mods off one at a time and start a test campaign to see what happens.

Most likely though, if you shell-out to Windows (purposefully or otherwise), it will cause graphic anomalies like that, or stuck dive planes, a smoke column following your submerged sub, as well as any number of other visible troubles. You might also have sound issues with it. If your issues clear up after Saving the game, exiting the game, re-loading the game, and then loading the Save, then that is might be what happened to you.

However, a really common issue is failure to empty the Save folder (C:\Users \UserName \Documents \SH4 by default) after changing a mod set, whether adding or subtracting mods. The game runs off of the Save folder data, and if while applying or subtracting a mod, the game "sees" an existing file in the Save data folder with the same name as the new data, it will not overwrite the old data, and you end up with some odd results at times, sometimes CTDs. If you are not too far into a career, I would empty the Save folder, and then avoid shelling out to Windows. Like I said though, incompatible mod can do the same thing...

The RSRDC, is listed as option 2 install, not completely sure but... included as a means to be able to do a 1 install, play both sides workaround there. As stated... NOT 100% sure... just a WAG here.

As for "OM multicmd", that is part of OM mod set & is listed as a choice to use or go with the other option... OM_SH3_Command_Keys. On this, I think was a set up of cmd keys preferred by lurker.. as with RSRDC above, just a WAG on My part...

As to the "english cube & that... skins pack. both of those should be dumped from the list... in a fresh, clean... reinstall. My personal opinion... & that would include wiping out the saves folder, too...

Did a bit of hunting down info on those 2.. nada for the "english cube" (could be included as an optional in a base mod set I don't know of... (just a WAG... ) but, BUT... I did find that skins pack mod & that... is for use with U.S. subs.. so am on the fence about that being dumped... BUT... wouldn't hurt to back it out & see if it isn't a potential trouble maker, just the same.

Info on the skins pack, can be found here:

https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/sho...d.php?t=111842

&... here:

https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/dow...e0be69005a441f

Hope, this info helps...

Adipro,

i have to agree with PB on your issue...you are mixing US Pacific mods with German Atlantic mods and that is verbotten.

if you want to play in the Atlantic, i strongly suggest that you browse over to the Dark Waters forum and download that mega-mod.
it fixes a lot of the bugs that are in the OM mega mod. it is rooted in the OM mega but it is also enhanced and to a certain degree, debugged. Read the documentation thoroughly.

if you wish to play in the Pacific, RSRD is excellent especially when paired with TMO or GFO megas.

however, you should not mix US and German mods.

either way, good luck, Herr Kaleun.

When a ship explodes, it just sends up white squares. Is there a way to fix this? I could put the stock files in, I suppose, but I don't know which ones. I had to manually import the 705 to 720 mod because OVGME couldn't due to needing admin rights to copy a couple files.
It is great to have all the different boats and missions/maps!

mariner3302, where do you have the game installed, ie: "C:\Program Files (x86)\..." or elsewhere? Where did you get the game? Steam, Ubisoft, Amazon, etc.? Disk or software?

It is from a disk and it is installed in the default folder, C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft by itself.

If it is from a disk, then you can copy it to a new folder. The first thing to do is to de-activate OM - as easy as that is... lol - but get it back to Stock condition. Using File Manager, navigate to your C: drive, and create a new folder of your own naming convention, such as "C:\Games". Inside of that Games folder, create another new folder of your own naming, such as "SH4OM" or whatever, such that you have "C:\Games\SH4OM" in this example. Now navigate to your "C:\Program Files (x86) \Ubisoft \Wolves of the Pacific" folder (whatever its name is) until you see the "Data", other folders & "Support". Once you are in that folder, then use key combo <Ctrl><A> so that it selects all of the files, then the combo <Ctrl><C> to copy them all. Now navigate back into your new C:\Games\SH4OM folder, and use combo <Ctrl><V> to paste it all into there. That should copy the whole stock game into the new folder, and leave your Stock game where it is.

Now find the SH4.exe and the FileManager.dll file in that new folder, and either select them both, or one at a time, then right-click on them, choose "Properties" from the context menu. That will bring up another little window that is open to the "General" tab. There is an "Attributes" section at the bottom of the tab, and clear the "Read-only" check mark out if there is one there. If the box is empty, that is what you want.

Now you can run 4GB virtual memory Patch on the SH4.exe file, and MultiSH4, which changes the FileManager.dll and allows you to alter the Save folder used from SH4, to any three regular characters you want, such as "OpM" or whatever. If you do not use MultiSH4, then you will have to delete that C:\Users \UserName \Documents \SH4 folder so that it clears the Stock game's settings out. You will have to change your user settings again.

Thanks! I don't know where my disk is at the moment and manually moved the 705 to 720 update into the stock SH4 game because OVGME would install because of a couple administrator required files. As soon as I can find my disk, I will do as you have suggested. Thanks for the detailed instructions, by the way!! That really makes my job easier!!

While what you have in the game folder now is probably a bit mixed up, you don't need the disk to make another install - unless you want to, and then you know that it is a clean install. You should be able to just copy the existing game over into another folder that is not inside the Program Files folder, but remember to deactivate OM first. Re-activate it after the move. Just remember if you use the disk, that you HAVE to install DirectXv9 and the Codecs if you take the other one out. You also still have to empty the Save game folder, else the old install info will stay in that, and will then ruin modding attempt in the new folder - unless you use MultiSH4.

I LOVE this mod!!

When I detect an aircraft in my Type IXC, once I dive in most cases I detect a torpedo on sonar. Or is this the aircraft launching a torpedo in my general direction? It doesn't happen all the time but a majority. I have been hit after diving but not sighting the plane a time or two. I am curious what this is all about? I do a complete crash dive, sometimes to 300, now and stay at flank for a few minutes just in case. I will wait to turn until submerged and depending how far away teh aircraft is. Getting caught on the surface by a Liberator is a BAD day in the making! I started noticing it in 1943.

i don't think you need to dive to 100m, but i would dive deeper than PD.
say, 40-50 m.
my SWAG is that the A/C are set to drop a torpedo to run at PD.

Depth charges are a different use case. not sure if they are dropped at variable depths.

Yeah, I get that although I prefer not stopping a crash dive in progress... Safer that way. Yet, the question remains
.. what is the torpedo sound? I just doubt that would be an actual tactic. Am I wrong?.

I don't know if Dark Waters has it, but it could very well be a huntin' dog come lookin' fer you: Fido

It is recommended that once you get down below 30m, possibly combining the dive with a change of direction once submerged, that you go quiet, especially if you hear a torpedo whine... I do not remember if lurker_hlb3 brought Rubini's Fido into the original OM mod or not...

I think they are because I was at periscope depth and saw a Mosquito. I crash dived to 225 and went to ahead 1/3, and something blasted me into that great U-boat playground in Davie Jones Locker.... I don't have Dark Waters installed. Just OM720.
