I've been thinking about this quite a bit.
I can travel again.
Can I camp out on your couch for five or six weeks?

Seriously, I won't be tied quite so tight to my apartment.

That wouldn't be a problem unless the family hound had an objection

I was just out watching the Geminid meteor shower. It's a great night for it ... at least in southeast Virginia. I probably saw about a dozen meteors in a half hour.

Icon14 Merry Christmas!

Awaiting the kids to show for Christmas brunch: quiche with mimosas; followed by daughter's roasted Duck a l'Orange late dinner! And it's continuously raining all week in a moderate 'atmospheric river' to further fill the CA drought starved reservoirs...perhaps the best Christmas gift of all!!

First post here for 2022:

When I woke up this morning Moira told me I'd been laughing out loud in my sleep. I asked what have I got to laugh about?

Could it be because you watched the latest installment of animal planet ?

Dis-functional squirrels and the nuts who love them ?

Overseeing the workers replacing forty feet of fencing at the rear of the property because at a cost to me of £1350 I need it doing correctly.

Well, there was a rematch of the 2022 Olympic Women's hockey gold medal match-up Yesterday. It was again between the Women's Canadian and American teams. I expected a hard fought game and wasn't surprised that it was

It took place in Pittsburgh at the PPG sports arena. Pittsburgh Penguin's Mike Matheson's wife, Emily Pfalzer Matheson coached the Women's American team. This explains why the game was held in Pittsburgh. I might have made the trip to see the game if I had known sooner.

The Women's American team lost in overtime to Canada, once again.

The American team played much better in this rematch but still lost 4-3. How much more can an American hockey fan take ?

I may have a solution. I'm putting together a petition. I think the U.S should invade Canada and take all of their current and future hockey players and hypnotize them into believing they are Americans.

All jokes aside, the Hockey work ethics and traditions in Canada are hard to beat.

Icon9 How 2 spend a soggy day indoors in retirement.

Watching Howard Hawk's 1930 classic Flight Commander on classic TMC movies and my better half: computing our taxes for the annual appointment with our taxman on the morrow.

Rototilled heavy sacks of manure into our garden boxes for the spring veggie garden planting; pulled up weeds and cut down unwanted shrubs to tidy up the rear yard. The wife is making homemade crumpets on the grill!? Sorta like making pancakes..to go with her homemade jams and marmelade: all from fruit from the neighbors' trees. A week ago our on-call gardner rerouted our timed irrigation, wiring, et al for front and back yards and replace &re-engineered the aged sprinkler 25 yearold valves. The cost was steep but $ave$ water in the California drought!

^ oh yes the joy of "gardening". Has been too cold, maybe this weekend..
Very sandy ground here, still the ground water level is high and due to lots of trees part is in the shadow, so it is mostly too wet.
When tending the beds (read: sand) our cat lies in the vicinity and wonders what we are doing with his toilet.

What's social media doing to us? I just saw that my mother-in-law has put a 'like' on one of my Facebook photo posts - I expected it to have been the one of me and my brother, taken at his son's wedding a few years ago

Nope... it turned out to be the one of Lego's Princess Leia photocopying her arse

if I remember correctly, it was painted quite a lot on the fence, and now it will be an experience again!
