It's that file over there on the 3rd line of your elaborate explanation of what you did and did not try, and I think if you change the parameter on line 13 to something more meaningfull, it will probably start working.

I have enabled v1.4 SH5 by Skwas Miltons New UI edition v0.4.1 English and I am using a Gamecom 780 headset with the microphone switch in the on position.
The SH speed engine test. Speech engine ready. en-US Listening
Can anyone tell me what I need to do next please?

Gone to speech recognition in the windows control panel. Set up microphone. Headset Mic. Computer states it cannot hear anything. Could be headset fault!

Use the engine test here, after you enabled your mods.

C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5

If you do it the main folder in MODS folder its not loaded in game yet. The other speed test in Silent Hunter 5 is already loaded from mod.

See if that works any.

It is also have to enable the Speech in game. There is going to be a new icon on your NewUI on the right hand side. Its either after the journal icon, you will see it. The icon looks like a mic. When you click on it, game will kind of freeze for a second or two. Don't worry let it finish. The Icon will now be lit up and ready to receive commands.

Look in Documents folder for this:
original Version - Supported Voicecommands (englische Version)

It will show you the many speech to say for one function.

Hi Raven
I think the headset mic might be faulty.
Control Panel
Speech recognition
Set up mic
Adjust the mic volume
Yellow Green and Red band appears. You speak into the mic and it should register below the colour band the strength it heard.
I get the computer did not hear anything. I guess if the computer can't hear it then there is no chance in the game!

Is it a USB port mic. If so, try another port. Sometimes my of my front port won't activate everything, but the one next to it works normal. But like you said, your headset might be faulty.

Check this out:

altered command "decks awash" to use new scripted command "Decks_Awash_Depth" / default is 7.5 meters / can be changed in Speech Recognition.py / search for decksAwashDepthToSet = 7.5

Might help fix the decks awash to 7.0 to go with TDW NewUI

Can read more info from downloads then forum thread:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=3085

I'm going to try the Guns_Control phrase and see what it does.

I think its in this area:

if SHSpeechEngine.IsSupported:
currentDecksAwashDepth = 7.5
newConfidenceLevel = 0.70
currentConfidenceLevel = 0.70
#speech = SHSpeechEngine("en-US")
#speech.Confidence = newConfidenceLevel
#speech.OrderReceived += speech_OrderReceived
#speech.Start()

I sent the Gamecom set back under warranty and replaced it with the Roccat Kave which is working ok.

How do you know what confidence level to use. I am currently using 60 not for any particular reason. What would be the difference if I went down to say 50?

I changed the setting, it doesn't do anything. I revert back to original setting.

I wish there was a screw where the toggle mic button is, so I can try to fix it. The volume knob is there and if I touch it to control volume, one side of headset goes off and on. So I tend just to leave it full. There is a short in the wiring case that needs fix.

My headset is a Logitech G330.

Will this work with The Wolves of Steel mod?

I have not modded SH5 yet. I just uninstalled my steam version and installed amazon gold edition

I was VERY excited when I saw a video by stoianm's youtube account using this mod!

However the OP states: "NOTE: Likely NOT compatible with UI mods...!"

Judging by some screen shots and gameplay footage I like the look of the Wolves of Steel UI (or whatever UI mods are included in that package) but I really really want to yell commands at my computer!

Any of you guys rock The Wolves of Steel mod with this voice mod?!?! Danke!

New UIs by TDW supports voice recognition. Being based on New UIs, TWoS should be on turn fully compatible with the present mod.
