Default Can the uboat just spontaneously combust?

I was on my way back home from a rather uneventful patrol, maybe 100 km west of Helgoland. The weather was 15m/s winds, no rain, overcast. I'm cruising along on the surface at medium speed when at 22:21 suddenly I get the alert that I'm taking damage. Diesel engines, conning tower, deck gun, flak gun, command room, sonar station, stern quarters all red, the Watch officer dead in the tower. Bow and stern torpedoes, bow quarters, electric all yellow. Flooding all over the place. Port and Starboard diesels out. I put all hands and an officer on damage control and they got the control room flooding under control but it was too late and the sub went down.

No map contacts, no warning that I was under attack (I looked back to double check), nothing just a sudden "we're taking damage" message.

What the heck happened? Can the uboat go boom on me like that?

Running on SH3 Commander and GWX.

Also happened to me but 15 km southeast of Helgo heading back to Wlhelmhaven. Was able to control the flooding and get repairs completed but both diesels where destroyed. Had to get within 25 - 40 km to Wilhelmhaven submerged, surfaced and was able to exit and save tonnage.

All you need is good men.

Good hunting,

Mines? That's very unsportsmanlike of them!

Well, mines do not have "friendly fire" turned off, sadly.

Default Mines also in CCoM?

Hi Guys,

I think I had this happened to me once but I can't remember if on GWX or CCoM.

Do you happen to know, if these mines are also activated with CCoM10 and following?

Thanks!

Ugh, planes... because of TC, by them time I get the alarm that there's an airplane spotted it's too late

Probably a mine strike.
I've seen them in the stock version of the game,
Guarding the base at Loch ewe, outside of Gibraltar.
Came very close to grief, but always got away unscathed.
