I thought the background was appropriate for these forums

I think MGS 5's rating system might be a bit broken.

Almost all of those neutralizations were by the pick up helo, who decided to go Apocalypse Now on the enemy.

MGS5's scoring system is anything over 130k points is an S rank.

Very much broken.

That's perfect execution damnit. PERFECT!

Really just comes down to speed though. Do a mission fast, S rank. You can shoot for a hidden "no trace" bonus as well for S ranks, but it's tricky.

Yeah, if you don't do it fast, your only chance really is the "no trace" bonus, which I think is worth 100k.

It seems to vary a lot depending on which mission it is. I've gotten S ranks on missions I took ages to complete and lesser scores for missions which I thought I've done relatively quickly.

A Hero's Way can be completed in well under 20 minutes without being too hasty, so I guess it makes sense to some extent, but it would have been nice if the scoring system actually took how stealthy you were into account beyond the bonus score points you get for no alerts, no kills and no traces.

EDIT: Also, a bonus score for perfect stealth and no retries would be nice too.

The mission where you ambush and steal the cargo truck the skulls protect you can get an S by simply riding D horse to the airport Fulton the truck call D horse and ride away.

You can also get one by simply dropping supply drops on Quiets head during the sniper duel two or three knock her out.

I bet Kojima likes it that way in Snake Eater you can defeat the end by simply waiting a week during the battle he will die of old age.

Chrono Trigger, never owned a SNES but my friend did and had that game thus many hours on the attic passing around the controller as we divided the characters between us. Great times

Now if that game would get a proper PC re-release I would grab it day 1
