Default Shells of Fury. Why is it such a HOG !?!

Okay. My computer runs Silent Hunter III, which is a FAR more graphicly complex game, with no problem, but when I run Shells of Fury which my computer more than meets the specs it says it requires on the box, it bogs down horribly and even at the lowest graphics settings, I get about one frame every 3 secconds (but the mouse moves fine without any choppiness.) Is there anything I can do to improve things or is the game just that much of a hog ?

What are your system specs?
Compared to the visual quality, SoF really has insane hardware requirements.
My box says the optimal system is Athlon XP 2600+ / P 4 2,4 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 256 MB graphics card. I have a notebook with an AMD X2 QL-62 Dual Core with 2,0 GHz, 4 GB of ram and a 256 MB graphics card and Vista, and the game runs decently (I guess at around 30 fps) if I set all the settings to minimum. Needless to say that it looks much worse than SH3, which runs like a charm. I guess that it's just a case of bad programming in the case of SoF.

To put a technical spin on SoF. It's a PoS game.

I got it for 0,01€ from Amazon (new and sealed) + 3€ for shipping. One of the cheaper PoS games actually

That's the only way to shop.

My specs are P 4, 2.4 ghz, 2 gigs of ram with a 512 meg NVIDIA card.

Even when I tone all the settings down to bare minimum, that game creeps on me.
A game that has so little in it (no global, go anywhere campaign), nowhere near the grapics SHIII has, you would assume that it wouldn't need the resources ! What is it doing with all of it !?!

I mean, even with GWX, with ALL options cranked to the max in SHIII in crowded ports, I hardly get a single frame skip and SHIII is keeping track of LOTS more than SOF is.

It's almost like loading an Atari 2600 game into a modern computer and watching the thing drain everything the computer can throw at it !

!
Really strange ...
I have the game installed on both a Nvidia/Pentium and an ATI/AMD rig, and don't have problems like yours on either system.
I have stopped it playing a while ago. The missing savegame function (are they serious?!) and sluggish camera controls simply annoyed me too much although I really wanted to like this game. I'd say just give the game the boot, it's not worth it.

Yes. It's an AGP card. All drivers are fully updated. Direct X is the latest version. This game is the only game I have that seems to suck resources like it does. I have lots of far more graphicly intense games and none of them bog down like SOF does. My laptop which has the same specs also won't run it without bogging down.
