Default FOTRSU and fire damage

Does fire damage ships in FOTRSU, or is it merely cosmetic?

If not, has anyone modded fire damage into FotRSU? Was taking a look into the TDW ship and fire damage mod 1.3. I wanted to include this as part of my tweaked version of the mod.

I’ve noticed some ships burning for hours that don’t sink. Sometimes, they’re borderline sinking but don’t actually sink.

The TDW mod caused CTDs in the mod originally. That may have been due to computer resource use and not as much memory on computers back when. We have not tried it recently, and do not plan to. YMMV - Try it as you may, but the team does not sanction its use. It does not directly manipulate the ships, but rather adds a file in the Library folder.

FotRSU has several "sinking" mods mixed into the mod, but not all ships have the same set-up. One ship will sink from flooding only (brought about by damage from torpedoes or shells). Others will use only hit points to initiate the sinking sequence (again, brought about by damage from torpedoes or shells). Others use a combination of the two. The hitpoint-only ships are generally the ones that exhibit the behavior you describe. Sometimes, just a pinch more wind will take them under from the sea-state, or maybe a couple of hits from a 20mm cannon... The combination ships are the ones that might experience an internal explosion an hour after being torpedoed, and then sink. In all cases though, ships can and do sink hours later in FotRSU, and then, sometimes they don't and you have to help them along more...

Ever I used TDW Fire Damage and never had a CTD because it. TMO, FOTRSU, RFB, GFO...ever works as intended, and it is not cosmetic.

The TDW mod for depth charge disturbances is not recommended, it, yes, causes CTDs.

Best regards.

TDW's Ship-plane fire damage v1.3 SH4

I used it... in earlier on incantations of FotRS-U EN... & with a couple of other mod sets...

without any issues, that I knew of... except for, mhmmm... think it was with v1.46 of FotRS-U, with a ship or 2... refusing to take damages, at all.

That said...

am with propbeanie... but... should you choose to accept the mission...& add it in, would recommend, making a backup copy of your save folder... prior to adding it in... just in case.

That way, if it has... adverse effects, can always dump that save folder with it added in & revert back to that backup save folder copy.
