Default Das Boot original uncut version

I just got the original uncut version of Das Boot for my birthday. it has 84 more minutes then the Directors cut version and is so much better.

It is a shame that they always cut out the areas that give more meaning to the characters in the story. In stead of "I wonder why he said or did that?" Now it makes sense...

Great movie. If you haven't bought one yet I suggest you buy the Original uncut version...lol...I have both now.

The Mini-serie is far more interesting than the Directors Cut, it shows more about the life of the people on board.

Exactly. The full un-cut version is something like 5 1/2 hours long.

Good stuff!

I have a version witch is 293min long. May be that is the fullest(omg!) of all ? I have never seen this short film but i wonder what it would be like. This almost 5 hour version is so interesting that i cant imagine how much stuff they had to cut to shrink it to that size.

After watching the Directors Cut more times than I care to admit; I went and ordered the full length mini-series. It filled in a lot of gaps and continuity issues for me. What is really amazing is the W. Peterson, shot the thing with the intent of the mini-series for German television and a feature length film for theater distribution. Very ambitious project indeed.

I really like the mini-series very nice!

Yes, there is an early attack, and a crash dive due to the sighting of what may have been a plane...or not.:rotfl:

And even better are the scenes with the beautiful Françoise, and the 'torpedo vesaga' converstation at the bar, and the discussion about rescuing the English, and the extended storm sequence, and the captain playing with the attack scope because he's bored, and the captain snapping at Kriechbaum, and the extended narration by Werner, and the...

Oh, go buy it! You'll love it.

I have Das Boot the orginal uncut version and it is 4h 42mins. It has some documentary too which is really short. Around 10 - 15 minutes with Jürgen Prochnow among others.

EDIT: I wonder what I am missing in those 11 minutes?

Is that what the timer one the player says? Check the box - it should say 293 minutes.

And WELCOME ABOARD!

Having seen the Director's Cut, I've been interested in buying the mini-series version. Most of the ads I see for it on ebay show it as the full 293 minutes, but they usually paste a description of the Director's Cut. I've read both the German and English dialogue was dubbed due to the high noise level on the set precluding simultaneous recording. Fortunately, most of the actors spoke German and English, so it was well done. What I'm wondering about is, does the 293 minute version feature selectable German and English audio tracks like the Director's Cut advertises?

My original uncut version is 293 minutes long. You can watch in German or english.

I watched it in the English with the Subtitles also in english. The subtitles are generally different. Just pick the voice or subtitles whichever you like best...lol..
