Default sh3.exe - Enry Point Not Found

New member here. After floating adrift for a day in my technical problem I'm shooting off a flare to seek some help.

PROBLEM: after 40+ campaign missions into Feb. 1944 (so close to the type XXI) my SH3 Commander and direct launch both tell me "sh3.exe - Entry Point Not Found. The procedure entry point Direct3DCreate9Ex could not be located in d3d9.dll".

Originally I did a clean install of SH3 minus Starforce and patched to 1.4b. I then installed Living Silent Hunter III with the 4GB patch and a JSGME load of LSH3_V5, LSH3_V5.1, and DX9HiResFix. I run it through SH3 Commander on a WIN7/64bit high end PC.

I'm hoping the experts here can throw me a life preserver. Otherwise I may try saving my career info, doing a full uninstall, then re-installing everything.

Thank you (treading water) !

Thanks Blitz. I was headed to a re-install but wasn't sure which files to back up. Backing up everything makes sense.

Once I resurface I'll post how it went. First I need to avoid the Windows depth charges!

Back in operation.

After methodically testing every step of the re-install it appears that the DX9HiResFix caused the crash. It's odd because I ran over 40 missions with the mod installed. I do get power outages where I live but don't recall getting one while running SH3. The only other variable was that NVIDIA dropped a driver update on me right before the problem.

I may look into the DX9HiResFix mod to see exactly what it does, and then see if it may be conflicting with my video driver or Windows resolution, etc. In the meantime it's now March 1944 and I haven't seen the long-awaited type XXI!

When its all fixed transfer to the 11th flotilla based at bergen your shiny new command will be waiting for you there but i think march 44 is a little ealy. Try it in may.

I will have to agree with scott.

The type XXI was not available at all bases, but the best chance of getting one is Bergen and the 11th fleet out of Norway. Mid-1944 onwards. I got mine in time to do 4 missions to the end of the war. I started another campaign to see if I can better this...

Thanks for all the input mates.

I found out that the XXI isn't available until Sept. 1944 so I'm a little early. I could change the config file but I think I'll play it out "as is". The acoustic torpedoes came along just in time to save my arse. Instead of being totally defensive, I now take out a couple of escorts that are in my way.
