Just noticed that the original SH3 figures can be adapted quite well to a WWI uniform. Using textures alone you can make it look as though the men are wearing overcoats.

I'm not satisfied with the existing hat models as substitutes for the WWI German enlisted man's naval cap, so I will try creating one from scratch and importing thru Silent 3ditor.

Kaiserliche Marine Officer's uniform - again being tested in SH3. Note the crown emblem on his cap, instead of the Third Reich eagle, along with the crowns on his cuffs and the gold stripe indicating rank. I found that using Photoshop I could create the illusion that he was wearing a long overcoat, instead of the work shirts that stock SH3 crewmen wear.

The coat is a modded version of the leather officer's jacket in GWX. The face comes from fubar's bearded reskin of the default SH3 officer heads.







The officer on the bridge. It took some work to modify the channels so that the default SH3 crewmember's features didn't show through, and to keep the uniform from looking featureless when exposed to different levels of light. At the moment things seem to be going well. I will create several different jackets for officers of different rank, as well as maybe some sweaters for casual clothing.

wonderful !

if you care to tell me sometimes in the future how to do that and not get funny characters or alien looking crew in SH4 I'd appreciate it, I still need to do the IJN crew's shirts etc.. but it kindo crashes when I alter a 3D model and re import it in the .dat

Would you please share the textures for SH3 use? I want to give the watch crew nice grey leather coats

Thanks a lot for the plans.

I am away from home right now but I will resume work on the mod right after New Year's. Spent a lot of time researching British and French pre-dreadnoughts & old battleships; everyone knows about the "Invincible" & "Lion" but I want some really unique targets.

Sergbuto just mentioned a possible fix for the problem of wings3d models crashing in S3ditor. If it works then I expect to have some in-game shots of the "Moltke", U-9, "HMS Defence", and others.
