I'm going to throw up the next question for you (hmm, that sounded weird...)

If anyone gets the one above, I'll be surprised.

New question: What were the three causes of US torpedo failures in WWII?

Stubbornness, Incompetence and bad magnetic and contact exploder designs!

You got two of the three, quick--what was the third before someone beats you to it.

On behalf of Halsey (I no longer play online)...

Faulty depth settings.....The torpedo tended to run some ten feet (3 meters) too deep for several reasons.

As Jimbuna said the faulty depth keeping of the things. Honestly can't believe I forgot about that.

Magnetic exploders, depth keeping (calculated for practice warheads which are much lighter than real warheads), contact detonator pins bending (fixed by switching out steel for aluminum), circle runners (mostly mk 18 due to cheap and quickly built versions, killed the Tang)

There you go, great timing, Jim.
So, you will have a SHO code shortly, Halsey, you are still on the field.

Nope, nope...

Hint: the series was not a naval-oriented show.... just a silly comedy series that happened to have a submarine show up in a single episode.
