It was years ago, so honestly I don't remember what mods I had if any. Just remember my bitter disappointment when my "perfect" night approach from AOD ended up in being lit up

Ah. Without his patch the spotting distances are a mess in SH3.

I disagree atleast in my case-but I respect your opinion, John. To each his own. Does AoD have the Med campaign and the Type XXI boat? Only played CAoD, myself.

Yes, via an expansion patch.

Get the $29 version, top one on the list. Works perfectly on Win 7 computer, just like the old game did in the day.

The first loading is slow-like wait and wait, then it begins to install and the rest is history. I have dealt with the dealer before on items, very trustworthy.

No I do not get a commission for the advert.
Thanks seems like it was his last copy available I order it can’t wait to try it out. I’ll try and get myself the dos version also for all the goodies that box comes with

Now it comes as a CD, if you got the game from my source. I still have all the original paperwork that came back in the day.

If you got CAoD, you don't need the expansion pack in the download section here at Subsim, it is already part of the game. If you don't have the "Quick Reference", very important , download it at the download section at Subsim.

Also if you lack a Kriegsmarine grid map, you can hunt and pec for the mission grid on the chart in game, or download the grid map here at the download section at subsim.

Any problems or questions post and someone will respond. REMEMBER-it is a mid 90's game and graphics. Like many games then, they are not perfect.

I grabbed the CAotD version I seen it’s just the cd no box but I’m not to worried about that I figured all the documents are available somewhere on here. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Looks like a great game with a lot of depth I’ll take that over graphics any day of the week. I still enjoy playing dangerous waters for my modern sub itch even if it’s a little long in the tooth. If I have any questions with set up I’ll be sure to reach out to you guys!

Another thing to keep in mind; some of the things that don't matter in SH3, do in AOD.
I.e, moonlight, depth charge noise masking, convoy ships noise masking, etc.

Some of the bugs CAOD has are:

- engine sound doesn't change at different speeds.
- ctd when wolfpack spawns.
- ctds for various other reasons. (google if desired).
- various minor graphical glitches. I.e., the "cable" for the periscope doesn't extend the full length.

Post when you get some of these. Who knows maybe they can be looked at these days.

The engine noise does not change and sometimes it goes silent, but comes back on.

Never had a CD when a wolfpack spawns in all these years.

It is a mid 90's game-yes it will have glitches-all that are not an issue. Save game is your friend. Reload and problems gone. This includes sound issues and graphic issues.

Seriously John, who has time to look for that kinda stuff-you need a new hobby.

It was the very best of its time IMO. It is the gameplay that counts.

Are we done with this?
