Default My U-Boat Pictures

To complete the gallery, I propose to add the foreign U-Boats.
This is some U-boats captured and commissioned into the Kriegsmarine during WWII.

U-A (the Turkish Batiray)






Taken out of service in May 1944 at Neustadt, Holstein. Scuttled on 3 May 1945 at the Kiel Arsenal. Wreck broken up.
He was the most successful foreign U-boat in German service by far, credited with 7 ships sunk by this boat

U-B (Type Porpoise - Former HMS Seal - British mine laying submarine)

Captured on 5 May 1940


On July 31, 1941 UB was decommissioned from the Kriegsmarine and on May 3, 1945 she was scuttled in Heikendorf Bay (in position 54.22N, 10.11E). Her wreck was later raised and broken up.

U-C2 (ex Norwegian boat B-6)

Used for training. Taken out of service at Bergen, Norway in October 1944. Scuttled on 3 May, 1945 in Kiel, raised and broken up in 1945.

U-D1 (ex Dutch submarine O 8)

Taken over by the German Navy on 14 May, 1940 at Den Helder, Netherlands.
Taken out of service at Kiel, Germany on 23 Nov, 1943.
Scuttled at Kiel on 3 May, 1945. Wreck broken up.

U-D3 (ex Dutch submarine O 25)

Launched 1 May, 1940 as the Dutch submarine O 25

Taken over by the German Navy on 14 May, 1940 at the shipyard in Schiedam. Built under German command ready and commisioned on 8 Jun, 1941.Taken out of service on 13 Oct, 1944. Scuttled at Kiel on 3 May, 1945. Wreck broken up.

U-D4 (ex Dutch submarine O 26)

Captured by the Germans at the Rotterdam yard on 14 May, 1940.
Out of service on 19 Mar, 1945.
Scuttled 3 May, 1945 at the Kiel Arsenal. Wreck broken up.

U-D5 (ex Dutch submarine O 27)

Captured by the Germans at the Rotterdam yard on 14 May, 1940.
Launched 26, Sept 1941 and commissioned into the German Navy on 30 Jan, 1942. Surrendered in Norway in May 1945.
Recommissioned as the Dutch submarine O 27 after the war. Stricken 14 Nov, 1959 and broken up in 1961.

UIT-22 (ex Italian submarine Alpino Bagnolini)

Taken over by the Germans, following the Italian capitulation, at her Bordeaux, France base on 9 Sept, 1943.
Sunk 11 March, 1944 south of the Cape of Good Hope, in position 41.28S, 17.40E, by a South African aircraft. 43 dead (all hands lost).

UIT-23 (ex Italian submarine Reginaldo Giuliani)



Taken over by the Germans, following the Italian capitulation, at Singapore on 10 Sept, 1943.
Sunk 14 Feb, 1944 in the Straits of Malacca, in position 04.27N, 100.11E, by torpedoes from the British submarine HMS Tallyho. 26 dead, 14 survivors.

UIT-24 (ex Italian submarine Comandante Cappellini)

Taken over by the Germans, following the Italian capitulation, at Sabang in the Far East on 10 Sept, 1943.
Taken over by Japan at Kobe and recommissioned as I-503 or I-505 on 10 May, 1945. The boat was in Kobe at the time of the japanese surrender. Scuttled at Kii Suido on 16 April, 1946 by the US Navy.

UIT-25 (ex Italian submarine Luigi Torelli)

Commissioned in the german kreigsmarine on september 10, 1943
Taken over at Kobe, Japan on 10 May, 1945 and commissioned as I-504. After the japanese surrender the boat was scuttled by the Americans.

I have one single question. Where you have the Pics. of U-30 from? My Grandfahter was on this boat and one of this pics. I have here at home.
