Excellent card. 470/480 are awesome too, I'll take your word for it that they aren't that hot or hungry, but they're a bit pricey. 460 really hit the mark.

Normally I'd agree 520 should (just) cut it, but I'm running some extra gear; 4 HDs total, add in sound-card...

It's the aging that worries me the most though. Running 2.5 years, often 24hrs a day, a PSU loses quite a bit of power over time.

Well a small change in video card
the GTX 460 768mb they only could get at the moment was going to cost me a 448 € thats too much I want to spend on a video card so had to pick something different.

So this is what I get now

Intel Quad core Q9400
4Gb Ram
Asus motherboard
Asus HD5850 1Gb ATI card (my first ATI )

total price 759€

No, it happens to be brand spanking new here in Spain with just one brand that sells these.

^hard to help if your owning a Nvidia
the Control Panels differ a lot.

It's my first ATI so would be a bit of discovering to do in it's Control Panel on how things work.

I've had a few ATI cards... I'd uninstall CCC and find an alternative, but maybe that's just me.

What's wrong with CCC, except that it can't use program-specific profiles?

The criptive stuff always gave me pause, concepts like "Catalyst A.I.". I still don't know what it's about really. I'd rather just have straightforward naming that I can research, figure out how it works.

It's long ago, can't really remember all it's intricacies, but I sure do remember how happy I was with the Nvidia alternative in comparison.
