![]() ![]() Actually I'm not really wimpy. I just don't have any interest in blowing things up. My focus is practicing the spatial mental pictures real sub commanders possessed. I also like to avoid using the "god view" on maps or under the sea like in Cold Waters, but depend on marking a blank map manually. I don't even like external views when my boat is submerged. In light of the above, I would appreciate any suggestions which Silent Hunter 3, 4, or 5 with what mods could fulfill my interests (FWIW, SH4 is my preference, but I'm open). For the present I will plan on following COMSUBPAC, etc. orders except all my patrols would be attempting to get as close to the enemy as possible without detection or evading any depth charging, etc. Take care.

Don't you think you will be better taken care of in one of these?

Of course, you have described the WW1 U-boat. i.e no hydrophone , no TDC, etc. Just simple binoculars from the deck to manually collect targeting data, then minimal mapping, limited periscope , blind approach , getting real close ( <400m) to target etc. |
