GWX for SH3. Try it out, I did. It does a lot for the game.

They're both great and cheap! What's the point of figuring out which is better? Get both and take a poll of yourself once a week.

Silent Hunter III with the GWX 3.0 mod (Grey Wolves Xpansion), no matter what game comes after it and so updated, Silent Hunter III will always be the best!

You can do whatever you want with SH3, but everyone overlooks the fact that SH3 is lacking the central element of the U-Boat war: wolfpacks! SH3 without wolfpacks is as accurate as SH4 without water. You can mod it until the cows come home but the defect is fatal and uncorrectable. SH4 at least reproduces the normal hunting method of the American submarine.

SH3 is just as fun, but it is a sad parody of the real U-Boat war.
