Shiny side towards the board. Sorry. Use the two slots already in use and add the third to the slot next in the row of slots.

For some reason existing ones are in first
and third ones. The second and fourth are
empty.

Correct. This is how mine was. Use the two slots already used and place the third between them.

I mispoke - thank you for pointing it out. 2.1 is supposed to be backward compatible. Some old motherboards do have a conflict, but that turned out to be rare. Most 2.1 work fine as 1.0's. Thanks for catching that!

*phew* Had me scared there for awhile. I have a new card on the way that's 2.1.

Thanks Hap.

Bit of an update. Got both items a few days ago. Installed and seem to be working fine. I'll post back regarding improvement in game and system performance

Thanks again folks

Finally have the computer working properly. Did a reinstall ( had not done this for quite some time, my system needed it ) of XP, various drivers etc. When I first installed the RAM and VC I did so without doing the above, I messed things up and did a system restore which did not help.

It was a busy summer so I am just getting back to this now.

Anyway, with the reinstall things seem to be working much better. Initially I am getting 10 + frames better with SH 5 than previously. And at a higher resolution.
