Default How to avoid this ??

My SC Sub goes under the ice but no matter ice coverage cautions, I always get fired but these big ice zones.
Tried several times but no way...any ideas ??

I think I don't understand what you mean. Are you getting fired upon by icebergs? That's really absurd. I mean, with what weapon? Or do you mean you keep bumping into icebergs and it damages your sub?

If so, activate the high-frequency active sonar and check regularly for images of objects. For the 688 it's on the helm station. And for the Akulas and Seawolve it's part of the active sonar station. (read the manual for exact explanation on where to find/use it) If you see something on it, click with the mouse on the object and you'll get a range mark on the map.

Also, I see you are at depth 200ft. That is usually not deep enough if you want to avoid bumping into things sticking out downwards. Go deeper if you can.

The boat will take damage from Ice. Speed is also a factor. The slower and depper the better. If for any reason you have to go shallower. That will depend on the percentage of Ice above you. In some cases you simply cannot do that.

I mean icebergs damage my sub.
Ice covergae is 75% and I am using HF sonar to mark mines and icebergs to avoid.
May be I must go deeper, gonna try it tonight.
Thanks !!

Its not the only way to avoid you can run shallow and slow 3 or 4 knots and still avoid icebergs, there is a manual out there that aids in under ice ops its on subguru.com.
From what i see your running into ice shelves which sit below the water so in this instance yes being deep is good, sometimes bergs can go down to 800 to 1000ft depths so it depends on where you are in the world and if your in a rush.

Its simple logic hitting ice at speed is like ridding a push bike down hill at 50mph and slamming into a wall, as you guessed walls dont move so it will cause major damage to a submarine.

You do have to use the HF sonar to find bergs and avoid the best submarine fitted with this is both the 688i and akula, the kilo isnt any good it isnt designed for under ice and seawolf im not a fan of.
but yep run deep run slow
