1864: On this Day of Days, the whole thing becomes feasible. The CSS Hunley hand-cranks it's way to the USS Housatonic blockading Charleston Harbor, South Carolina and exploded its too-short spar blackpowder charge in the first naval attack of its kind. Both vessels. incl. Hunley, with all 8 hands, were sunk. All submarine subsequent development since is merely an improvement on the primary concept; ie: breaking naval blockades or creating them with submarine warfare.The first step on the long journey to reading this post...begins here 158 years ago!
