Actually, there's a backstory. Long before founding Devo with Gerry Casale, Mark Mothersbaugh saw the Beatles on the old Ed Sullivan show when he was just a little kid. He ran down to the local Woolworths to buy their album but bought an album of "Beatles Influenced Hits" by mistake. These were backwater songs from five years before the Beatles came to America.

He was so disappointed that he eventually recorded what you just saw, based on one of the songs from the bogus album.
