Default Tactics in Cold waters

Some ones asked me how i use my subs in my Games so hears my Basic General Tactics Guide

1.) Pre Mission weapons selection

Do Not go with what you are given change it to what suits you ideally more torpedo's

2.) Station Keeping Range

this ones tricky you want to be as close as you can for less weapon travel time but not to close that they hear you fire

"Look if their are any Thermal Layers or Surface ducts also to Utilize"

this is not simple as all submarines & Surface warships have different sonar gear so you will have to look at the identification book for details

p.s this can also help identify your primary targets as the enemy with the best weapons is the one you want destroyed first

Also once they know your their its "FAR HARDER"

also theirs the sea noise all ways check that first & also were the bottom of the sea is its not good ordering Emg Deep straight in to the sea floor

3.) Dog legs & Torpedo tactics

"FIRST OFF Work OUT what tubes side you need so"

Port Or Starboard

"Im making a port & starboard mod Currently that will help with this"

The Tube side its vital because you dont want your weapon turning in to your own boat

it also means your not running over your own wire if its a wire-guided weapon

and last it cuts down on torpedo turn time which is important at close range engagements

Once you fire change your weapons angle to away from your boat then after a reasonably time has elapsed change it back to the target

if its not wire guided then change your boats position instead

all this will help you not get counter fire on your boats actual position

once they detect your "Fish or Fishes" ie Torpedo's

do few things Immediately Go A,A

So Activate the weapon then Go Active on the Weapons sonar if its got it "AA"

next switch to the Conditions tab then set the scale to the lowest one you can depending on targets depth for depth weapon judgment assist

i find this helps Greatly use the "Tactical Map" if needed for more ZOOM
this all so gives a far better Awareness of your fight i find

if you can try get your torpedo to be in front of your target so a head on approach this has a few benefits :

1.) your weapon & the target are closing with each other

2.)its far harder to avoid a oncoming torpedo as no matter what the target dose hes showing you a better target profile

3.)the dropped decoy,s are rear deployed normally also hes moving away from it also so even if he drops one your weapon will home straight thought him to get to it or it will maintain its lock on the sub you are trying to sink

4.) Clear your Datum

so make sure you are not were you were during the attack chances are you were creeping very slowly and wont have covered much distance

so change course & depth

KEEP CLOSE EYE OUT FOR Sonar-buoys too

if it looks ok then reload your tubes

"again the back ground sea noise and any ocean layers will help also your own boats noise your cavitation rate all matter with how much speed you can use hear"

5.)Detected --- Torpedo in the water !!!!! Bearing 3,5,4

CHECK DEPTH FIRST !!!! you should all ready know tho as i said earlier

if your not deep speed up THEN Go BAL -30 / PLN down -30

Or use Emergency deep

Then Go RUDDER Left or RIGHT Full you want to be doing a downward spiral like a cork screw dont run off in a in a straight line or a straight dive

if you have to then ok their wil be times for straight speed

Keep track of DEPTH too its a SHIELD against torpedo's with low crush ratings because they will CRUSH

this means knowing your enemy's limitations and ofc your own

!!!!!!CRUSH DEPTH!!!!! remember your own Vessel limits

also remember

if your damaged your crush depth will be less !!!!

also when deep your sub can move faster with less chance of cavitation

&

if you deep its takes enemy weapons Especially surface or air dropped ones more time to get to you

so what we have hear is a battle of strengths & weaknesses

Use your Strengths Exploit the enemy's weaknesses

"Important"
only launch a counter measure when you have to

they take time to reload & are like a LARGE SIGN SAYING YOUR EXACT POSITION AND DEPTH

you can also remember make water a Knuckle if you at speed and go from full rudder left or right to opposite side this can be very useful for creating temporary water shields from enemy weapon sensors

time em right tho they dont last long so when to do one is critical

you could have a moss ready in a tube or a Equivalent other decoy ALSO

This a basic Tactics Guide only
