So far I have not had a lockup/CTD in the extensive training missions. But last night I noticed for the first time using the mounting method some graphic corruption at the bottom of the screen - patterned or black over top of the message box. Sweeping the mouse across any portion tended to remove the corruption.

I've seen this in other sims, related to incompatible graphic card settings. But I've not seen it in this kind of dosbox situation. I might try to make an Nvidia driver setting alteration tied to the Fast Attack exe in the Sierra\Fast directory, if the problem persists.

Man I am having a blast with this sim. I am about to complete the GIUK campaign now. The game got a lot more stable recently and I am having a crash on perhaps every 10th mission (which is ok, knowing how the game can be). I now continue to decimate the Russian Navy, they already are about to run out of subs

The Time expander is not the problem (I know.. I wrote it). There are a number of possibilities that, if you happen to hit one of them in a mission, will cause a hard coded crash. Nothing you can do about those I am afraid.

I have completed all of the scenarios so I can tell you it is possible, you just need a bit of luck.

Hi John - the time expander idea was just a thought on my part, since Mbot was having so many crashes...on the order of, "If A doesn't work, try B; if B doesn't work try C, etc." I appreciate that you made the program and truly meant no insult to your work! Sounds as if your assessment must be the bottomline - luck.

On a history note...I remember reading that the Navy had a huge complaint about how realistic looking the screens were.

Realistic as what you see in the movies or realistic in a "real" sense ?
As a note, I would really have liked to have that kind of realism in DW, incoming messages formatted correctly, and all those details....

In the real sense...I was shocked at seeing the sonar screens.

It shows that the lead designer of Fast Attack was a 688(I) skipper

sonar732, would you think that such screens, perhaps with even bigger realism, would still be a problem today? These seems to be outdated systems, on current photos the sonar stations of LA subs look quite different.
