Default Greek cruiser " Georgios Averof" - historical question

Hi everyone!

I'm searching info about Georgios Averof.
In detail, i found info on her weapons configuration after 1927 refit, but i cannot find the exat locations of A\A and tertiary weapons (254 and 190mm still in their place).

Can i ask you if someone can help me please?

The ship before the refit...

And this is the WIP ship, please don't look at textures, they just give the idea, but hull, funnels, masts etc are really low-res:

Best regards,
Vd

Maybe the pics of the model in this link help you in some way. Model builders are great sources for this kind of info.

Hi JapLance, and thank you!!

I meet this site before, i guess this could be a good source
I assume the last pic refere to after refit configuration; i have those info:

primary 2 × twin 234 mm (9.2 in) guns OK
secondary 4 × twin 190 mm (7.5 in) guns OK

+

8 × single 76 mm (3 in) guns
4 × single 76 mm (3 in) AA guns
6 × single 36 mm (1.42 in) AA guns (OK, but did they replace lifeboats with this bridge-shaped structure?)

Something appear strange in 76mm number:

Here i can find 15 of them, with 2 in casemates, instead 12...

Best regards,
Vd

I would sure remove the one on top of the A turret.

And without any real good visual reference , I would also get rid of the casemate guns.

Wooden lifeboats are very dangerous in a combat situation. Wood gets shattered and the splinters can cause a lot of casualties. By WW2 standards rubber rafts are probably more useful.

Maybe you should look for the site Georgios Averof as a floating museum in Palaio Faliro, Athens.

Greek had also two old battleships, Kilkis and Lemnos, ex US Mississipi class BBs, but they were both sunk by Stukas on 23 April 1941.

Happy New Year!!
