Default Swap Periscope Positions

Hi All,

I remember back in the day I use to have a mod that fixed the periscope positions so that the round scope would be in the attack periscope position and the more rectangle one would be in the observation periscope position...

I was curious if anyone knows how to do this and how difficult it is. I will probably need to edit the files myself with Silent 3ditor since I currently use mods like SuperTrums that likely already edit the same files.

Thanks for the reply Anvar1061,

I found the periscope nodes, and swapped the x,y,z coordinates...

I checked it in-game...

The only problem I have now (which I expected) is when I select the Attack Periscope it brings up the Observation Periscope view, and selecting the Observation Periscope brings up the Attack Periscope view. The game still considers the Attack Periscope the Observation Periscope and the Observation Periscope the Attack Periscope even though I swapped the location. Any ideas how to to fix this? I did manage to find the "O02 <=> O03" and changed them, but it didn't seem to help.

Just curious, the attack periscope was the smaller rectangular head and indeed further aft, any reason why you want to switch them?

Hey derstosstrupp greetings..

Not if you observe the screen well: the observation periscope should be in front since we see the balcony as well as the DCA aviation observe well...!

My best regards Kal Maximus U669..

Correct, the observation scope (large round head) should be in front, maybe I just misunderstood this mod. Is vanilla not correct in the positioning?

The image in the original post in other words is correct - obs scope (large) is forward, attack scope (small) aft.

I used a mod years ago that switched them so I thought they needed to be changed. I recently added a UI mod that changes the observation periscope view to be rectangular. Turns out you are right and by default they are in the correct location, the larger round head for the observation periscope allows for a more vertical viewing angle... which is simulated in-game, it can look almost straight up vs the attack periscope angle is limited.

Thanks for the reply.

I think your problem is a file overlay problem...
I don't know anymore but it wouldn't be Cornue's mods.. because you also have to pay attention to the scale on which you are playing..!! this one being for 1360 x 768.. it seems to me..
see with S3D in your Uboat file here in this case: Types VII
now why modify that .. if it is to have the rectangular pellet in attack see The GUI file the "TGA" it is easier to redo It seems to me ..
