Default After action report convoy intercept x 2

Did a convoy intercept with the Kilo class SSK (Orzel from Poland)

It didn't go as planned, I had 4 Escorts a T23 T45 Halifax and a hunt MHCM also had a P8 up there escorting 4 civilian ships I gained contact early and closed the range down to 2.5nm

Did quite a few All round looks between points to close the gap, then got range and targeting via visual sightings continued to close to 1.5nm
ESM sweep picked up nothing so everyone was on EMCON so took the opportunity to fire into the convoy while maintaining heading to end up in the middle.

Fired 3 53-65KE torpedoes, one took down the container ship one couldn't find the target and the other swung round and decided to take me out.

Total failure on my part will re run later but the screen grabs can be found here > https://imgur.com/gallery/b9iv0Vz

Round 2

This time a much better result even though I did get bounced and killed

After multiple ARLs on the scope and a ESM sweep I caught sight of a T45 and detected a P8A and promptly removed the surface threat along side a freighter and container ship

Used a korund to confuse other platforms if any were about and there were !

Had a TIW warning managed to dive to 140m then onto max 300m and run at 14-17kts then drifted to reestablish contact (sprint drift tactic) came to PD for a few ARLs eventually caught sight of a T23 crossing left right estimated speed 23 knots

Fired another korund and two 53-65KE what I didn't realize was one hit the T23 taking that out the other torpedo went on to find a tanker again dived down sprint drift

Instead of heading away I foolishly headed into the convoy track and when I came back up for an ARL a Halifax FFG was less than 2000 yards off my starboard quarter, was setting up for an attack but it appears the P8A got there first and took me out with a MK50 torpedo

Overall favorable to me in one sense I got a lot of kills in a short space of time yet was sunk in the process of the mission.

Nice work - racking up the tonnage!

I guess technically that's tonnage too?

I guess but it is the wrong type of tonnage lol

I was hoping to survive the encounter but alas I unfortunately didn't.

I need some ideas on new missions now though

Four frigates and an MPA vs one SSK is a heck of a challenege!

You'd almost only get one shot at the ships before they gunned it and sped away as well, wouldn't you?

I wish there were more playable SSKs in DW (*cough* Oberon) - I love the challenge of having to tactically 'snort' on longer missions.

I was lucky I managed to get two shots in before having to make a run for it, the battery got down to 30% before she slowed and that's when the torpedo got me

In hindsight I shouldn't have taken the 2nd shot I should have just barreled away went out and re charged and intercepted at a later time.

My next AAR fared much better it seams I'm better at handling the nukes than the conventional.

Took HMS Triumph for a spin went up against an Algerian force this time the objective was to photograph their LPD which was part of a task group consisting of the LPD 4 surface vessels and a Kilo SSK

I managed to get by the outer escorts and during the time transiting to the inner sanctum the Kilo fired on me with rocket assisted torpedoes which being unguided I managed to swerve and ran for cover there was a lot of countermeasure dumping but evaded them all using knuckle turns.

Overall I didn't fire a weapon I did manage to get the pictures and get out to the south.
The Kilo managed to take out one of its own ships a Nanuchka
