radar Improved User Interace

Love this game and I know it is still in progress. The game design, it's great, does nearly everything well. One area that I feel could use an overhaul; the UI.

1. The left menu should be combined with bottom menu into a toolbar at the bottom of the screen. One toolbar to rule them all!

2. The binocs should use the mouse scroll wheel to zoom and unzoom.

3. There should be keybindings available for some/all of the helm commands; hard right rudder hard left rudder, rudder amidships, and bow lookout. Currently using Voice attack I have these set up as T Y, U for the helm commands, right mouse button to take me directly to bow lookout and depress the mouse wheel to toggle zoom. But these are the essentials there should be more available.

4. The Plot should be more markable and eraseable. Player should be able to draw on it, erase parts or all, and have more control over it. Give me a pencil & a sheet of paper and I will show you what I mean.

5. The current Speed and Compass icons (bottom left) require two clicks to operate, they should be open all the time so the player can click directly to the speed telegraph or compass rose to make changes.

6. Whenever you get a CBDR warning you should get a small bow lookout popup similar to the TRR popup.

7. Definitely need to make sure the game is clear on reports that they are referring to Relative or True bearing.

Any thoughts?

Icon14 Great ideas all

Love all of the suggestions. I would propose that a second toolbar directly above the current one on the bottom would be a great solution to reduce unnecessary mouse travel.

I especially love the idea of the speed telegraph and rudder controls being open all the time. Might as well have the new course entry UI be open all the time, too.

In on all of them.

I would suggest having the ordered course.and ordered speed added to the left menuv even just a number in green next to the current, or on the pop up gauges as a tick mark. Sometimes in the best of battle it's hard to keep up and textbox can get cluttered trying to make sure your order has been implemented.

I would like if the game went on until you destroy the sub, and not cut off as a stale mate. If you can make a mod to do this it would greatly be appreciated.
