Here are some screens from what Ive been doing
This is my main mining operation. It is about 10 or so levels up from the floor of the world. You can see the loading area where i run carts from on the right, on the left is the spiral track (5x5) going up and in the middle is the ladder I use to go up (though not down). I wish powered mine carts could push me up but they are too weak. But they are great for pushing chest carts View of the mining room floor, with my current mine (i mine in rows of 3 or XOXXXOXXXOX for good coverage for less work) heading off to the left. Work area in the middle (with the track spiral behind) and loading zone to the right Top of the mine, with the decent down on the left and the outside on the right View of the track to my fortress and the fort itself. The track when outside I raised 3 z levels above the surrounding land (and hacked out to 5 squares away from it, to prevent critters or mobs getting on the track and causing trouble. Took a heck of a lot of digging. the place the fort is on is about 70% man made (I also tunneled out all the sand where the earth is. This is my cactus farm, which i may use as a defense system later View of my fort, wheat farm, and reed farm View of the house in the fort View inside the house Nighttime view of the fort, the beacon tower (with ladder) is 45 tiles up from sea level, just under the clouds). View from the beacon tower showing part of my rail system. At some point I may rework the rail system so that it can handle me in the cart being pushed by a powered cart all the way to the mine (i catch it on the way back at the top of the mine). Wish they were more powerful though. I may as an alternate just add some mine cart accelerators Anyhow its a pretty cool game, but I find I am growing a bit bored of it. Also mineral gathering is majorly time consuming, even for basics like iron. If I do keep playing I'll be rebuilding my fort to make it bigger (very time consuming as i tend to dig down to "support" my structures), and may open up another mine. |

Started the game couple of hours ago. A few pictures:
My unready fort from afar. The view inside the courtyard. And at night. And my rather disorganized mine... |

How do you play this? Is there a player's guide anywhere?
EDIT - Disregard... just found some answers. "Google for it, dummy!" |

Ah, just read that. Seems it's possible to copy the sounds from some older version and use those. There's a file on Mediafire but I can't get anything from that.
I'm surprised noone build a sandcastle yet. Would need something different for roofs, but mostly sand is doable.

Dug up a loooong tunnel from my Fortress of solitude to my next outpost. At the bottom of the hill is around a 30-40 block climb via ladders to the top of the location the picture is taken.

Currently have to battle 5 spiders and maybe some creepers everytime I step out of the door. Each new exit just gets me jumped by something else...
