Default Google Chrome Frame for IE

Does anyone know it? It is a plugin for IE to work around IE's inadequate handling of HTML5 standard. It allows the display and the functinality of modern websites using according code.

Now, my first issue is it is by Google, which alone is a reason for suspicion, and seoncd, it mentions Chrome, the by far most data-krakening webbrowser on ther whole web - also a reason for worries.

Before I install a plugin with "Google" and "Chrome" in it, I want to know ehther it is compromsing my system in any way like Google services do, or Chrome does. Or is it just adding a neutral functionality to IE without opening any black channels and bypasses behind my visible screen?

Asking because I just found out that the virtual museum of Google's Art Project suddenly do not work without this plugin anymore.

As far as I know, the frame plugin boils down to a Chrome window opening up within your IE browser. In other words, it's the same as installing and using Chrome on your system, albeit stripped down to basics.

Chrome doesn't use "black channels" or anything, but collects data on you rather openly and blatantly, much like other google services including that art museum you want to use here. If you have trouble with google's data collection policies, you should avoid using both Chrome and their other services.

However browsers other than IE and Chrome do support HTML5. In fact given IE's shameful lack of support for HTML5 and its otherwise utter incompetence, I suggest you simply consider another alternative to the crapware of a browser than it is.

IE 9 supports every standard of html 5
now there are a few tags/APIs (notably offline web apps) that it does not support, but those tags have not been ratified yet

As for chrome, have you thought of trying chromium? The real open source project?

I'm rather satisfied with IE9. The bad reputation imo is overexaggerated or comes from users who insist to run it with all security disabled and all party-gimmicks open and active. Firefox just gave me bad experiences and technical issues time and again, with all versions tried, and on three different systems - last in february ion the laptop of my mother who installed it accidentally when getting fooled by a website.

Google's Art Project until maybe four weeks ago - when was the last time I visited it - did not need a personal Google account of any kind. It operated like Google Earth and to my awareness did not collect and copied data from my system. It also ran with cookies blocked (I run a policy of allowing only manually selected cookies here, all casual cookies are blocked). Possible though that Google ignores and bypasses such blocks, it was in the press some weeks ago that they can do - and do - that, with practically all available browsers. Intentionally breaching set secuirty blocks and security settings on a foreign system to me demonstrates already criminal energy.

If CCIP says it opens a Chrome window, then this is - due to the disastrous privacy policies of Google - a total exclusion criterion for me. It also tells me that they chnaged the way Art Project can get accessed maybe only for the purpose of luring people into tolerating the breaching of their systems, either by installing Chrome, or getting a Google account.

If tyrant says IE9 has HTML5 support, then Google has just lied in my face when their black screen popped up and told me that my IE9 does not support it. Nice. Another feature to lower their trustworthiness - if only any further reduction of that would be possible.

Too bad, Art Project was a nice thing to use occasionally. But one can certainly live without it.

With the only exception of Google Earth I run no Google stuff here asnymore. Even Google search I have replaced with Ixquick. Which is very nice, btw., just takes a bit longer.

Now somebody points me at something bad about Google Earth, too, and I will shut down that one, too. Hope I must not. The alternative offered by Microsoft is not en par.

the HTML 5 standard is far from being ratified
so everyone has their own interpretation on what to implement

the thing is, HTML5 is still in development, with many aspects still being debated.

so it is extremely possible that google decides to implement a standard one way, while IE does it differently. Causing the 2 browsers to be incompatible.

Have you tried Opera? it looks good
