Default Cannot send mails

All of a sudden and without having changed anything, my Windows LiveMail does receive mails, but no more sends mails, instead giving an error code 530 over failed authentication.

I am a little bit clueless on what to do. Again, I have not touched the mail software or the internet connection - why should I, if it worked?

Loading Other pages, no problem?, look at whether there has been a few settings that block incoming connections...

Have email-Guard and Firewall completely switched off - no luck.

Have you asked your OS to solve the problems, the problem solver and see what comes up.

530 Must issue a STARTTLS command first - encryption required for requested authentication mechanism.
try this:
Quote:
Open Windows Mail and click on Tools | Accounts

Select the name of your Hotmail account and click on Properties.

Click on the Servers tab and make sure the Incoming server
details contain your full Hotmail address and password.

Do NOT select the "Log on using Secure Password Authentication
(SPA) check box".

Under Outgoing Mail Server, check the box marked "My server
requires authentication".

Under Settings, select "Use same settings as my incoming mail
server".

Click on the Advanced tab.

The server port numbers should be 25 for Outgoing mail (SMTP) and
995 for Incoming mail (POP3).

Under both Outgoing mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3), select
the "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" check boxes.

If you still cannot send emails with these settings, try changing
the port number for Outgoing Mail to 587 (instead of Port 25).

Are you using something like outlook? If so your ISP might be blocking SMTP relaying.

Try setting the SMTP setting to your ISP SMTP email server setting.

Almost forgot that I had posted here. Thansk everybody, issue got solved . For some reason, LiveMail had unticked that tiny box "requesting authentication" all by itself on all accounts I use. Explanation: none. I had not touched it. My email accounts do not work without that checkbox ticked.
