That defence bit is very difficult, yes. The assault after that, just toss in as much support as you can, take out the towers on the complex and arty inside to soften 'em up.

Still dust it of every now and then.
Never got the expansion though, for some reason they do not sell it separate.

Just started a Campaign as Prussia. It's proving to be interesting so far. Austria declared war on me pretty early, and after fighting off their initial siege of Berlin I was able to beat them pretty soundly. Just wiped them out and I'm debating on what to do next. France isn't to fond of me, but I'd rather them provoke the war while I tend to improving my economy and begin to assimilate the new territories.

Austria tends to be a arse in the begining, attacking Prussia.

The Battle of Amsterdam, or the destruction of the French-Allied Dutch fleet at the hands of a ludicrously superior force:
The Batavian Fleet, outnumbered approximately 2.5:1, approaches the British Reserve Fleet's, reinforced by the Texel Squadron, blockade of Amsterdam at 12:10 The van of the British lines moves forward to cut off the Batavian Fleet, long range fire begins Goliath and Hero engage Prins Eerste and Neptunus. A devastating low-aimed raking volley at 200 yards tears the hull of Prins Eerste to shreds she sinks Holstein is cought forward of the line and is engaged by half the Dutch fleet Donegal rakes Neptunus at close range. Neptunus' magazines are hit and she explodes (As noted dramatically by the crazy mustached person), setting every ship within half a kilometer ablaze The British ships move into the dense smoke created by the gunfire and explosions, where the Dutch ships are apparently fouled and unable to move Pompee fires upon Oldenbarneveldt, previously damaged by the explosion and gunfire, causing it to flood and sink The British and Dutch vans engage each other at point blank range in the smoke. Hersteller grapples Athenian but recieves heavy fire at close range from 3 British ships. several ships, mostly Dutch, are heavily damaged The rear engages as well. Staaten Generaal is set on fire by long range gunfire and strikes her colours. British ships move forward and rake the rest of the Dutch fleet At 12:50, the Dutch fleet breaks contact and retreats back into Amsterdam. The British fleet pursues and inflicts some casualties. The battle is concluded, the Batavian Fleet having lost 5 ships and 1,779 men as opposed to the British losing just 491 men

Well, the combined Franco-Dutch cheese might've proven potent enough to knock out the whole British fleet...
