radar UZO / periscope default tick scale usage for targeting - help?

Hello!

I am using SH5 with TWoS but no 'extra' mods for the UZO/periscopes, so as far as I know they should have the default view when looking through them.

I know how to use the periscopes' RAOBF reticule markings to estimate range to target and AOB based on the optical height/length, but I would like to know how the default tick-mark scales on the sides of both the UZO and periscopes (RAOBF turned off) can be used to do the same (mainly for range estimations).

I have watched a video series where the player was using the UZO especially in this way to estimate range to target. The problem for me is that I don't know how the scale works - if I estimate/know the mast height of the target, how do I convert the optical height into range?

Thank you in advance!

The Real U-Boot-Zieloptik (UZO) did not have a rangefinder reticle. To use the periscope rangefinder grids, see my posts in this thread:
