Icon9 Hi all, and Please help SH4 Problem

Hi guys,

Used to play SH3 WAY back in the day and recently the bug bit me again.
Its really great finding this community, so thanks for having me. Looking forward to being part of the community.

Now..I first downloaded SH3 off steam as I used to play it vanilla and wanted to try the Greywolves' mod pack. However the game would play intro video and then my screen (I play off a 40" tv, Windows 7) goes black, and the tv tells me "No signal".

I checked, and tv doesnt support 1024x768.

Ok fine.. Old game, maybe try SH4. Organise a refund off Steam, buy and download SH4....

Same crap. I am beyond frustrated by now. I have tried modifying the res variables in Main.cfg, no luck.
I have tried activating Win XP SP2 compatability and activating Admin mode.

I am starting to think either Steam or Ubisoft are plotting against me!

I am using an Nvidia card.. Will check tomorrow what kind exactly.

But I am sure it is a resolution thing.

Anyways, thanks in advance for any help, and thanks for running a great site!

Rob

Welcome to the Forums, Capella23274. Happy to have you with us.

What is the version of SH4 that you are currently using? Just for the sake of conversation, v1.5 is the latest version of SH4 currently available.

Thank you guys for a warm welcome! Much appreciated.

And thank you to THEBERBSTER for the link to video settings, I messed around with the cfg file and the nVidia settings until the game magically worked.

Now to remember how the game works again after more than 10 years! Haha

Happy hunting, gents.

Troubleshooting 101 - borrow an actual computer monitor, see if you get the same symptoms as the TV. My guess is something missing like DirectX 9 or one of the Microsoft .NET Framework plugins.
