Default Windows 8 Security Levels

So I'm fooling around testing mods for SH3 when I start to notice something that bugs me. Every time I try to start up SH3, or even JSGME, a notice pops up telling me that it's a suspect file from an unknown publisher and do I really want to let it make changes to my computer? After a few days of starting up the game several times per session this is getting old. I did a little searching and found that the program that runs this is called User Account Control. I can adjust the levels or even disable it with no problem, but I kind of like the extra security it gives. The problem is that whatever level I choose is universal.

I think it would be a good idea to be able to select programs you already know and trust and except them from the routine. Does anyone know of any way to do this?

Apparently it's only with apps that change some computer setting or other.

I thought that was just when a program was installed in the main program folder. Yours is outside that right.

I've read that too. My Silent Hunter stuff is all in C: Steve's Stuff/Games/Ubisoft. Other than putting it on the external 'D' drive I'm not sure what else I can do.

I only have Windows 7 and every time I want to run Jsgme I also have to go through UAC. That is with a normal user account ( not administrator), but I can't imagine what kind of system tweaks it has to do. The game is not in program files, so that can't be it. Playing the game I can do as a normal user without problems.

Or does Jsgme change the registry? That could prompt it.

The download page link is near the bottom of the article.
Then the actual download button is near the bottom of that page.

I've read instructions for doing that same task manually. I've tried two similar programs with bad results. I hope this one does a better job.

Well, that one seems to have done the trick. A couple of clicks and the JSGME shortcut no longer has the UAC badge and opens instantly. It couldn't find the GWX shortcut, but when I deleted it and made a new one the program found it and 'Elevated' it with no problem.

That little item is now living in my desktop 'Computer Tools' folder.

Thanks man.
