Default Migrating SH4 ATO to Win7

Hi,

I will get a new system in the coming weeks.

Can I simply install SH4 on the new system (to get the entries in the registry right) and copy my SH4 folder from the old PC to the new system to get my current install back (same drive and folder names)?

TIA

Karsten

So that you have no problems with your game at all I recommend you follow the instructions in this thread. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=150997 Once you have it installed you can copy over your save games onto the new computer, they're stored in the same location still.

Personally I'd recommend going with a fresh install just in case - just wrap up the games you have going on now, and start again on the new PC.

Otherwise there's no problems I've had whatsoever with running the game on Win7, so you'll be fine.

  1. Copy whole SH4 folder
  2. Paste to new location
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 with savegames
  4. Play

Guaranteed to work

What Fincuan said

SHIV needs no registry-entries.

Keeping it away from systempartition too is a nice choice. That way you don't have to move it around when changing Windows - or wiping the disc for a fresh install.

THX a ton, guys.

I`ll try simply copying my SH4 folder.

@ Jan:

I always had 3 partitions on my systems,

C: OS, office and basic tools
D: GAMES
E: Images of C: for speedy recovery if something went wrong
