We can find cheapish accommodation but doubt it'll be a big swanky motel - it's all relative, I suppose. Youth Hostel? (it's only a name, age doesn't really come in to it!)
During the meet just past the guys slept in my (finished) basement on cots. They were willing to sleep on sailors racks aboard a WW2 Battleship. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be comfortable with "swanky"!

I will be the first to say I haven't slept on a cot, let alone one that fit me, since I was in preschool. And I was actually kinda glad we didn't have to share room with Boy Scouts. Oh my. Just walking through that area was enough to make me question humanity.

I'm all for going to the UK though. I'll start investing into my savings. (that sounds slightly like an oxymoron)

Of what.....the beans?

Oh, if you mean the venue then I'd nominate Oberon, he lives the closest to London.

Double oh and let me state this from the beginning, my attendance will be subject to getting the time off and Neal turning up....I have a few things I'd like him to take back across the pond for some of those I met in Texas (especially the t-shirt brigade)

Aces lives in London... I notice he's not stuck his head in this thread though - doesn't want to get lumbered with a dozen or so hairy arse drunkards in his house

I think we all owe him a bevvy or two though!

Not wishing to come across as cynical but the numbers will drop drastically (not that many have voiced an interest thus far...very early days) as the time approaches.

This years Meet was possibly the best example of that, hence my cautionary 'heads up' in my previous post.

RL has an awful habit of throwing obstacles into the best laid plans when you least expect it.

I'm not as close as you'd think Jim A good hour and a half to the outskirts, but admittedly, a heckuva lot closer than yourself and Herr B.
Besides, I'd be looking to kip at my Dads in London, where I usually go.

I'm nothing but a loser.

assuming I can make it. What kind of schedule do you have (Jim)? How long does it take to get from Newcastle to Londow?

...and what about Steed? We could stay with him?

I'm 250ish miles north, 50 minutes by plane, 3 1/2 hours by train and 5 hours by car.

Not that much when compared to US travelling but quite a lot in UK terms.

Yeah we could all have saved a lot of time and money had we known what our numbers were ultimately going to be. This is why I think it'd be best to come up with a plan for accommodations (and transportation too) that works regardless of how many (or few) show up.

It would be an enormous load off the mind of whoever draws the duty of figuring out the itinerary.
