Default Request for Assistance

Leitender’s compass is an excellent piece of work – good-looking and very functional. Unfortunately, I play with FM’s New Interior, and Leitenders’s compass doesn’t match the gyrocompass dial faces in the various 3D views. I have made dial faces that do, for both a large slider compass and the small heading dial. Both have a functional center Vernier dial, which makes them easy to read.

But, of course, the gyrocompass dial faces in the 3D views have a Vernier center dial that is not functional. I would like to make them functional, if possible. I have a modest familiarity with modding techniques, but to date, I have only used S3D to adjust parameter values. I don’t know where to start to add a functional capability.

I would appreciate advice or instructions from experienced 3D modders. Is whatI want to do feasible? Has it ever been done? (I am not too proud to copy for my own use!) And, if it can be done, how do I go about it?

Can anyone help? Thank you.

Ha-ha, just yesterday I started to equalize the interior with my menu. I'm very slow, will finish after some months. And, have not reached to this, yet.
And, I would not need to try to do functional vernier. I don't use 3d interior very much, just need to looks like my menu dials.

I think, is possible, through dial controller in .sim file! But needs the proper 3d model for this.
And it's own is not suitable, because is part of many other things in one 3d model. You need independent 3d model for this vernier dial. And that is where you need to start.

Thanks for the quick response, Tycho. It sounds like I have a pretty steep learning curve ahead of me. (Actually, the non-functioning Verniers are looking better all the time.)
