Night periscope

Ahoy.
Having recently returned to SH4 Gold, I see that there is a night periscope option. However, when I press the keybind, I go to the scope but it does not work (cannot raise).Is this a bug or is it because I need to get it as an upgrade to the sub? Playing with FOTRS mod.

If you have either FOTRS or FotRSU (there are major differences) and cannot get the Night Periscope (aka: Observation Periscope) to raise, then there is a configuration problem, likely caused from improper activation of the mod(s). Any major mod, such as FOTRS does require the user to empty their Save folder (C:\Users \UserName \Documents \SH4) to clear the old data, which is then recreated with fresh, valid data next time you run the game. If that is not done, then you end up with a mix of mods or mods and stock, and some of the calls for various "devices" are invalid.

Also though, be certain you are using the correct procedure to raise the periscopes. Refer to the "SH4_Q-Ref_Card_Front.jpg" and "SH4_Q-Ref_Card_Back.jpg" files after mod activation for proper key presses. In FotRSU, it shows the <PageUp> and <PageDown> keys raise and lower the Attack Periscope, and the <Insert> and <Delete> keys operate the Observation Periscope. In addition, the menu buttons do the same. You do have to be on the proper screen, which can be either from the menu buttons, or the <F3> key for the Attack Periscope Station and the <O> ("Oh") key for the Observation or Night Periscope Station. The views are very similar, only differing in the zoom level, amount of light seen and the "cross hairs" of the scopes. Other mods and Stock do similar, though there might be different key presses for the stations.

If you have further issues, and you are using the Fall of the Rising Sun Ultimate (FotRSU) mod, then post on the last page of the FotRSU REL Thread. If you do indeed have the original FOTRS Fall of the Rising Sun mod, then continued posting here is fine, and someone will "see" you.

Ty for your explanation. It would make sense as I previously played with trigger maru. I guess I`ll have to delete old saves and restart.
