Default Incorrect Historical Data on Op Tiger in Maps

The narrative says a disasterous british operation that went wrong.

It was not British.

i am re-watching the eight season series of Foyle's War and the final episode of season five involves some of the participants in, as well as the disastrous outcome of, Operation Tiger.

I have seen Foyles war in the past, his assistant was dreamy!!! (Girl!!)

It was Exercise Tiger not Operation though. An Op is real life but an Exercise is practice.

944 US soldiers lost their lives. One of the reasons was the Germans were listening to the open 'line' chat between the LSTs. There was no radio security. 11 of the officers had actual D Day maps, and Eisenhower told his men find those officers and if I don't get all 11 maps back, D Day is cancelled. They were all found!! The RN were tasked with protection of the exercise but were out in the Channel and had been given the wrong frequencies by the Americans and did not know what was happening.

yep. not exactly the same as whipping out the old cell phone and dialing up the landing forces, eh?

remember the army-guy in the Grenada incursion who had to call in an air strike by calling someone in the states (pentagon?) in order contact air support resources just off-shore? talk about not being on the same wave length.
