Introductions
Greetings to the Subsim community,
Now that I have finally managed to get my bearings in the forum allow me to introduce myself. My name is Roy and I have been playing submarine simulations since last year when I purchased Silent Hunter 5 (I have just purchased Silent Hunter 4, which I can't wait to play). I have had fun with the game - a lot of the advice on these forums have really helped hone my skills, even though I have been playing with the stock game. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone here in the Subsim community. Roy Kptlt. PBR P.S.: Sorry Scifo for putting this post originally in your thread. |

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm having fun modding Silent Hunter 5 and will install Mods for Silent Hunter 4 soon. It certainly helps make the game fun - and I say this as someone who thought the stock game was pretty fun.

I'm new too
Hi all.
I'm a middle aged British musician who toured with the likes of Echo & the Bunnymen, Hawkwind, Icicle Works and Slade, back in the day. I've also written for an English teaching publication and presented radio programs too. I'm old enough to have had computers from their inception and owned the first ever flight sim on a home micro computer as they were then known. I bought the Original Falcon 4 (F-16 Sim) and still have the 600 page manual as a door stop (talk about learning curve) but I enjoyed playing online with pals, when that too was in its infancy. A long time fan of Combat Flight Sim and the Oblivion series (Fallout, SkyRim et all) I can say that immersion is key in my game playing choice. Having bought SH3 (after reading it was the best place to start) I thought I'd give Subs a try and to be honest, I don't know why I stayed in the air for so long, when the thrill of being in SH3 hooked me from minute one. I'm just midway through the academy, having passed the Nav and Gunnery exams (similar to flying in both aspects) and am currently struggling to understand the first thing about Torpedo's. I shot a few off just to try, failed miserably and decided I better read up on it. I can see I'm waffling on, so I'll sign off by saying I've already learned that, as on all forums of this type, the enthusiasm, and know how you guys posess is going to be of great help to a new boy like me, so I apologise to you in advance of any silly questions I may ask and likewise thank you for your patience whilst I get my sea legs. All the best. Gad. |
